Brand Review
For all of you who are not familiar with Formula 10.0.6, this brand started in 1933 by a chemist and dispensed exclusively by pharmacists. It has a really good history for teenagers back in 80s – 90s. They relaunched the brand with the current sleek modern packaging back in 2009, and completed their collection with the facemasks for every skin need in 2014. So it is not necessarily new brand, but I can say this is an oldie but a goodie.
You can find them at Ulta or their website, and all masks are $6.99 for 3.4 Fl. Oz or 100 ml.
First time I found Formula 10.0.6 was when I made my trip to Ulta around end of last year, in the search of replacing my Origins charcoal mask (Girl, that mask is good but dang it’s so pricey!) The first product I try from them were some face masks and night cream. (Review on them are on my previous post)
In my opinion, Formula 10.0.6 is a great brand that really deserves more love from the Beauty Community. They have such a great choice of product that really under-rated because of all the Big Beauty Gurus or YouTubers are so overwhelmed with the expensive mud mask, magnetic mask, magic mask or whatsoever. What’s important for me about skin care is how effective they are, and how well it suit my skin. Doesn’t matter if it cost a fortune, if it doesn’t suit me I won’t use it. Formula 10.0.6 happens to be the one that works very well for my skin need and doesn’t cost an arm and leg to get it.
So without further due, let’s see what they got
Pore Be Pure Skin Clarifying Mud Mask
Type : Regular cream mask
Base : Strawberry + Yarrow
This is my favorite mask so far. With my big pores and oily skin, this mask really helps me to minimize pore. I used to ignore people saying that I need to put on face masks twice a week to help my skin, but once I started using this mask I want to use it everyday. It smell so refreshingly good (all the masks here do all smell GOOD) and within first 2 weeks I started using it, I noticed that my pores are shrinking, my skin is also less oily. After washing it off, my skin fill firm, tight (in good way) and really soft.
Get Your Glow On Skin Brigthening Peel Mask
Type : Peel Mask
Base : Papaya + Citrus
I have quite sensitive skin, and there’s a nice little tingling effect when I put on this mask the first time but once it dries down I can’t feel it anymore. First time I put this on, I notice it helps with pore minimizing too. My pores visibly look smaller and skin look smoother from the first use. For the past week I have been using the peel mask and mud mask almost everyday interchangeably, and I can really see the difference especially when applying foundation. Peel mask also helps to remove your dead skin cell that can make your skin look dull. I feel that my skin feel more plump after using the peel masks, instead of tightened like when i use the mud mask.
Be Berry Clear Illuminating Peel Mask
Type : Peel Mask
Base : Raspberry + Acai
Yes you read it correctly, I do use Illuminating Peel Mask for my oily skin. The illuminating here is not to make you skin look more dewy, but it’s leaning to a brightening effect. I notice that it helps to brighten my skin in the area where I have darkened acne scar. Sometimes for the day when you’re lazy to wash your face over and over again, peel mask is really fun to use. Aside from the smell that’s also amazing, this mask also helps to minimize pore. I notice that it also help to reduce the texture on my skin, especially if you exfoliate first before you put on the mask. The difference with the get your glow on, this peel mask takes a little longer to dry. The after effect is not as plump as the Get Your Glow On, but it feels more hydrating.
Be Berry Fresh Balancing Mud Mask
Type : Regular cream mask
Base : Bilberry + Neroli
For you my Girl with combo skin, I feel this will be suitable for you. I combine this with the Pore Be Pure mask on my face. I feel that this is more suitable for oily skin, especially when you are having break out. It is definitely refreshing to use, don’t question me on the smell cause it smell awesome just like the other mask. My skin feels smoother after using this, not as tightening as Pore Be Pure though but it has more calming and soothing effect.
There’s one more mud mask that I haven’t tried, it’s the Deep Down Detox Mud Mask and one other peel mask, Be Berry Smooth Peel Mask (this one is moisture rich, which I don’t think it suits oily skin type). Let me know if have tried or about to try any of these.
Final Words:
Formula 10.0.6 face masks are really under-rated. They deserve more hype, not only because of the quality of their product, but also how affordable they are. For you who love to do skincare at home, these masks are worth to try and are a really great options. You can choose the mask type that’s right for your skin type and suits your skin need, or combine them. I would suggest to try one of their mud mask and one of the peel mask to start with, so you can get to know which formula that suits your skin, or which one that you prefer. If you want to try all of them, that is totally fine cause they’re so affordable. I can get 5 mask for the price of 1 mask of my previous face mask 🙂
Special note for my oily girls out there, since I myself an oily girl 😉 : Pore Be Pure Mud Mask and Be Berry Clear Peel Mask will be your best friends

I know! There’s a chocolate strawberry mask by Freeman that just kills me. After I use it…I’m always hitting up the chocolate!

Yea Freeman is really good….or at least for me. I have pretty normal skin…blackheads on nose…a few breakouts here and there. I have the sweet tea peel off mask that feels sort of like a biore strip for your whole face. I only use it on my nose now, learned that lesson the hard way. The sparking pear and charcoal ones are nice as well.

For some reason I thought all the 10.0.6 masks were mud masks and unsuitable for my super dry skin. I might have to try that Raspberry and Acai one. Great review 🙂
