Favorite Concealer

Hey Pretties!

Hope y’all have a great weekend.

Today I want to talk about my favorite concealer, cause God forbid you stay up, party all night on weekend and Bam! dark circle on Monday morning..Not cool!

Both concealers that works very well for me here are high-end, cruelty free and vegan.

Until now I haven’t found the drugstore products that works as well as these two. Yes I have and do use drugstore product too, Maybelline Fitme and Rimmel concealer and highlighter. Are they good? Yes, but isn’t as good as the one that I’m talking about here. In terms of coverage, application, both of the drugstore product I’m currently having and using aren’t so effective to tackle my dark circle.

So, what’s my favorite favorite concealer? Do you think you know what are they?

Drum roll please….

1. Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Creme

Get it at Sephora and Kat Von D website

screen-shot-2017-03-06-at-10-01-21-am

Texture : It’s a cream concealer but very very very highly pigmented. Well, it’s a development formula of the old Lock It Tattoo concealer that was intended to cover tattoo so no wonder it’s very pigmented.

Coverage : Full buildable coverage.

Claim : instant one coat coverage, lightweight and comfortable, 24-hour wear, brighten under-eyes, cover blemishes, correct discoloration, neutralize redness, contour and highlight

Shades available : 21. 20 shades of skin tone and a pure white shade. I don’t personally have the white one but I tried my friend’s for eyeshadow base and it does a pretty good job.

Application : I feel that Lock It Concealer works  best with beauty sponge or finger application, it looks smoother than with brush application.

Why I love this better :

  • This concealer fulfill all its claim, except the 24–hours wear cause I never put on my makeup for 24 hours but it does stay put for good 12 hours on me.
  • It does only need one coat to cover everything! One swipe, blend it with sponge (my personal method of application) and you’re covered.
  • I love the pointed teardrop applicator because I can apply it precisely to the inner corner of the eyes. Prefer this type of applicator than the regular doe foot one.

screen-shot-2017-03-06-at-10-00-54-am

Kat Von D applicator is smaller and thinner which I feel make it easier for application.

  • The coverage is awesome, doesn’t budge, doesn’t crease even when I forgot to set it with powder. It’s very opaque even though the cream texture isn’t very thick and of course it’s not cakey at all.
  • I don’t personally use this concealer for highlight and contouring but one thing I know, I don’t need to color correct under my eye to cover up my dark circle. The texture of the Lock It Concealer is more liquidy than the Tarte one that’s very thick but I have to say the pigmentation and coverage of KVD is better.
  • I’m in the shade Light 11 – for neutral undertone.

Note : If you want even thicker coverage, choose the Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Concealer. I never personally use it a whole lot, but I did compare it the first time I bought KVD concealer. The Tattoo concealer is much more dense and it’s very thick, almost like tooth paste consistency but it really does cover everything. I don’t really like it because it look kinda cakey and not blended well into the skin

2. Tarte Shape Tape

Get it at Ulta (Exclusive) and Tarte website

screen-shot-2017-03-06-at-10-01-46-am

Texture: It’s a highly dense pigmented cream. The texture is thicker that Kat Von D one.

Coverage : Full coverage. Tarte Shape Tape isn’t as easy as Kat Von D one to work with. It’s very pigmented and you just need couple dots (not swipe) to get coverage. Because of its thicker texture, it tends to be cakey if you layer it up.

Claim : radiant coverage and contouring, instantly brighten and cover acne, dark circles and redness while softening the look of pores and fine lines

Shades available : 14. Tarte Shape Tape may not have as many shade as Kat Von D does, but the color range is quite wide, plus you can always mix some color to get the shade you want.

Application : Beauty sponge is the best applicator for this, because the sponge will help to absorb the excess product and somehow make it more flawless and less cakey.

My thought :

  • This one also lifts up to all its claims except the softening look of pores and fine lines. It sinks to my fine lines if I only apply one swipe like I do with my Kat Von D. I get a better and smoother application using my finger, this is why I love my the KVD more
  • The regular doe foot applicator is huge, so you get a lot of product when you pull it out of the container. Maybe this is why people say you only need a little of this product, cause basically it’s already bigger than a regular size concealer applicator. It doesn’t need to be set with powder either. My preference with this concealer is to only dust it with translucent powder a little bit, cause when I fully set it, it looks cakey
  • It’s very pigmented, doesn’t budge, and stay put for long hours. It looks good for all day, but I notice a little creasing at the end of the day, which I don’t find from the Kat Von D.
  • I’m in the shade Light Medium Honey, and my shade for Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water foundation is also light medium honey.

Are these two the best concealer?

Maybe not for everyone, but for me they are.

Are there any better concealer than these two?

Probably yes, but I choose these because they work well for me and based on my need.

If you have other suggestions, please feel free to write me in the comment below, since I’m also still on the hunt to find a good drugstore concealer too.

Are these your favorite concealer too? If not, what’s your favorite concealer or what do you suggest?

Have a great week!

Nyx Haul

Hey Everybody, smell the weekend already?

I lost my control last February. Not only because the tax return gives me more chance to do so, but also simply because I have no self determination at all to stop myself from buying makeup. So here is another post as the proof of my success (or failure) to get a good bargain on makeup

From Nyx Website

Nyx Lippies (Grabbed this on 40% off Sale)

img_2961

  1. Nyx Butter Gloss ($ 4.99)

($ 6.00 for the Butter Gloss set, as of right now when I posted the sets I got is sold out)

Set #9 : Apple Strudel, Cranberry Biscotti, Angel Food Cake

Individual : Peaches and Cream, Strawberry Cheesecake

Since you all know I’m not a fan of liquid lipstick, I’ll let you know something else about me here: If there’s any liquid lip product that I will gladly buy, It is gonna be lip gloss. Why? Because it feel comfortable on the lip, not drying (it’s hydrating actually) and it makes my lips look fuller without the hassle of drawing the lip with lip liner. Yes, I’m a lazy girl at its best.

  1. Nyx Pin-Up Pout Lipstick ($ 8.00)

Shades : Darling, Bombshell, Boundless

This lipstick is claimed to be a classic, creamy lipstick. Y’all probably have known my relationship with liquid lipstick is pretty much over so this year and I really avoid it. From the reviews about this new lipstick from Nyx, I haven’t heard any bad one. Since I just got it I haven’t really played with it much, but so far it felt fine on my lips, not drying but not as creamy as I expected.

PS: The shipping took quite long time. I made my order on 17th February and received my order on 1st of March. So you have to be patient a little bit

From Ulta

screen-shot-2017-03-03-at-10-29-26-am

BOGO Free SALE – I bought this in store, it’s not BOGO but each price is discounted 50% which turned out cheaper than if you buy BOGO. The sale valid until March 4

  1. Strobe Of Genius ($ 18.99)

    This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I’ve been eyeing this palette for so long, pretty much because of the lilac and rose gold tone in it. I’m actually not a fan of highlighter, but the first time I saw it, it just got my eye. After swatching it and seeing the pretty reflex from each shade, I know I have to grab this. You’re not gonna regret this palette, it gives you pretty glow, you can also use it as eyeshadow or eyeshadow and blush topper.

  1. Avant Pop – Surreal My Heart ($ 16.99)

img_2902

I grabbed this just because of the blue and teal green in this one, besides it’s BOGO deal so why not 😉 But it turns out the shades are really nice. I haven’t played with any Nyx eyeshadow since their super old one that came in small packaging called smokey. I have to say, I’m impressed with this palette. The pigmentation is good, not crazily pigmented but not patchy either. The texture is more on the dry side but it’s soft not gritty. The blue and teal is almost like metallic finish but not intense. The other neutral shades are semi-matte leaning to satin finish with no shimmer. Except for the yellow that I don’t really know when to use, the other colors are really nice. I like the grey shade below the blue, it’s not just grey but have some blue undertone in it and really nice for cool tone crease color. I’m actually thinking to grab the other 2 of this Avant Pop series

  1. Ultimate Brights (17.99)

img_2899

Still holding a ‘disappointment’ from my last rainbow colorful palette of UD Full Spectrum, I decided to try this one. Holy moly, this one is better than the UD one. Sorry UD, I love your naked palettes, but Girl for the price of $17.99 this little gem works better than the $39 one. The pigmentation isn’t as great like Kat Von D matte shade in metal matte, but it’s better than UD for sure, it’s not patchy and definitely you can get more pigmentation out of this one.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I did swatch this with 2 methods, one without any primer or whatsoever and the second one using nyx jumbo eye pencil in milk. The one with white base is definitely more vibrant and bring out the color more. Overall, this palette is really good, and I highly recommend it.

  1. Sweet Cheeks Blush palette (19.99)

Let’s be honest, who need 8 colors of blushes? I believe people actually only need 4, pink, peach, and purple-y (plummy) one. This palette though, it really makes it easy to justify that I need all 8 colors in there. The first two shades on the top row are more like a highlighter or blush topper. The other six are all matte. The blush is pretty pigmented that I suggest you to dip in your brush with light hand, especially to the deeper shades.

  1. Duo Chromatic Illuminating Powder ($ 7.99)

screen-shot-2017-03-03-at-10-28-37-am

For someone who claim to be not a highlighter fan, these illuminating powder caught my eye very well. Initially I swatch this in store to compare it to the Strobe of Genius and to see if they’re the same but they’re not. I got the shade Lavender Steel and Crushed Bloom. Lavender Steel in texture is more buttery soft like powder. It’s a beautiful lilac with pink reflex highlight. Crushed Bloom is more on the grittier side, not rough but drier. It’s a rose gold orange shade that’s really beautiful on top of pinky blush.

screen-shot-2017-03-03-at-10-29-07-am

T-B : Lavender Steel – Crushed Bloom

First time I swatch them, o my goodness, the reflex from these shades are GORGEOUS. I tried the Crushed Bloom on top the ‘Candied Peach’ shade from Too Faced Sweet Peach palette and it really amped up the peach glow. Love love love. Another thing from Nyx that makes me want to get every shade from this line. It’s not a Bam! blinding highlight but it gives you chic nice healthy glow

Have you tried any of these products? What do you think about them?

Let me know in the comments below

Peace out!

February Favorite + March Rotation

Hey Pretties,

It’s that time of the month again to review what you’ve been putting on your face. I start to like doing this kind of post as this reminds me to be more selective in buying products in the future (yeah right, like it’s possible haha…) well, at least I try not to buy everything 🙂

So without further due, let’s just get into them

img_2894

Makeup

  1. Tartelette Amazonian Clay

Y’all know that I’m trying to pan this palette this year so no wonder this now becomes my February favorite. I’m doing pretty good in using this palette. Not only because it’s basically a really solid palette for everyday look, but also for the so many matte shades that I can reach for every time I create a look, whether it’s for the crease or to set the eye shadow primer. I do mix this palette with others for some pop of color.

Side note: I don’t do as good with my Lorac palette though. I know I put it on my palette rotation and I did use it for a couple times this month, but my next favorite is the reason why I failed to use the Lorac palette more.

  1. Tartelette In Bloom

I know, I know, I’m terribly late to the hype of this palette. But, what can I say, since I got this on Valentine day I can’t stop using it. It smells so good (kinda similar to the Too Faced chocolate palettes scent) and the colors in this palette, especially the shimmer ones are STUNNING.. I don’t regret at all to choose this over the Tarteist Pro Palette when my husband asked me which one that I want. I feel I can use this palette a whole lot more that the Tarteist Pro, because yes the Tarteist Pro has more shades but it’s more warm tones. I love that the In Bloom palette is more neutral and daily use friendly. No wonder it’s on many people favorite (PS: Kandee Johnson and Kathleen Light love this palette so much)

  1. Too Faced La Crème in Juicy Melons (*)

I am not a fan of liquid lipstick, never was and never will. So, yes even though it’s kinda ‘old style’ I still and will always love conventional lipstick. It’s called lipstick so it should be a stick for the lips, and yes it should be in a stick form J Well, this lipstick in particular is so comfortable on the lips, creamy not greasy and has such a pretty warm pink tone. It doesn’t have the best staying power and I do have to re-apply it throughout the day but I don’t mind at all. I’d prefer to re-apply my lipstick over and over again but my lip doesn’t feel dry and I still can get away without exfoliating them every single day

  1. Milani Baked Blush – Luminoso

Again, another super late hype on a product. I really wanna bang my head and scream “where have I been?” This blush is sooo pretty. Well, I guess I don’t have to say much on this one. Pssst, I’m on the mission to get some other shades from this baked blush line. I do mix this blush with BH Cosmetics floral blush too. The BH blush is more on the shimmery side so I don’t use it as much

  1. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer(*)

Hey everyone, my name is Fenica and I’m a chocaholic. I’m obsessed with this sweet delicious thing since I was a kid. You all know that good stuff about this thing. It’s a chocolate-y brown completely matte bronzer with enough warmth to bring some life to my slightly pale skin during the winter. Who am I kidding? I don’t only use it on winter of course. This bronzer is so good and quite versatile I might say. It’s suitable for light-medium skin tone but even if you’re fair you can still put this on without looking muddy. I use this yummy bronzer for contouring too.

PS: I don’t have any contouring product, always use my bronzers for contouring.

  1. Benefit Roller Lash Mascara – Mini Size

I just realized when I organized my makeup I have some mini mascara from my purchases so I’m gonna put mascara in my no buy list until mid of the year. I love this mini size Roller Lash so much. The curve wand is really nice to apply the mascara on top and bottom lashes. It gives nice natural curl even without curling you eyelashes first. I will definitely put this on top of the list of my favorite mascara and probably get the full size once I’ve used up all my other mascaras.

  1. Essence Pure Nude highlight

With my oily skin and big pores, blinding glowy rainbow highlight is not on my attention when I put my makeup on. I produce my own highlight on my skin J but anyway, this nude highlight really got me. It gives just enough subtle glow to balance out my matte products that I cake up on my face. I use this on top of my cheek, and a little on my cupid bow to give that lips a fuller look.

  1. Formula 10.0.6 PM Perfector

screen-shot-2017-03-01-at-10-03-55-am

If this isn’t a best friend for oily skin girl, I don’t know what is. I bought this at almost the end of January, and I can already see the difference in my skin in about a month using it intensively. It really helps to balance my skin condition. Before using this cream, I always woke up with greasy oil all over my face, yes all over my forehead, cheek, nose, and chin. After using this amazing cream, I notice that it’s only my nose that’s still so greasy when I wake up. It’s great that Formula 10.0.6 sent me some products and this PM Perfector is included so I have backup. A little note, if you have dry skin I don’t think this night cream will do much for you because it doesn’t feel hydrating but it’s soothing and feel tightening when you first apply it. After it’s absorbed it’s just nice smooth skin feeling, and not much hydrating going on.

  1. Treat Beauty Lip Scrub

screen-shot-2017-03-01-at-9-52-43-am

Holy Moly if I don’t hold myself I would have chewed this thing up. It smells so delicious, and taste sooo good too. I’m a lazy girl to the core, so if I can do something the easiest way, be sure that I will do it. I’m a fan of winter but I hate that my lips get dry so bad during that time of the year (it’s already above 75 degrees here, so winter is over here in SC) I love this lip scrub as much as I love conventional lipstick, because Treat Beauty makes it in the form of lipstick (the size is 0.5 oz, regular lipstick size is 0.11oz) Just apply this like you apply regular lipstick, well massage and rub it a little more and you’re good to go. Highly recommend this, it’s convenient, easy to use, travel-friendly and of course, smell delicious 😉 (Pssst..they’re always free shipping so you can buy only one product without paying shipping)

NOTE : Sad to say the Laneige sleeping mask and the yoghurt one makes my skin much more oily than usual so I stop using it. On the plus side, this will be a good alternative for the PM Perfector for the dry skin.

Now, as for the products that I’m putting on my March rotation are :

  1. Nyx Avant Pop
  2. Nyx Sweet Cheeks blush
  3. Nyx Strobe of Genius
  4. Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation
  5. Maybelline Fit Me concealer

What’s your favorite during the month of love? Is there any of your favorite (or product you don’t like) that’s on my list here? Drop me a comment or two down below

Peace out!

Ulta Sephora HAUL 1

Hey y’all

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably already known that I did a little haul last week. So without further due, let’s see what I got

img_2728

here are the “damage”

From Sephora

  1. Kat Von D Lock It Concealer ($26)

img_2717

This was actually a repurchase after I’m out of this product in October last year. I’ve been using Tarte Shape Tape as the replacement, which is a really good concealer of concealer (you guys know all the hype around the Shape Tape) but I still miss the Kat Von D one so much. Stay tune for the review and comparison of these two BOMB concealer

  1. Too Faced Love Flush Blush in Love Hangover ($26)

img_2722

There is no particular reason why I bought this. I guess because of the cute packaging and still in the vibe of Valentine (yeah, right!) It has a really soft texture and the color is BAM! in your face. You need to use a very light hand for this blush because it’s so beautifully pigmented

From Ulta

  1. Formula 10.0.6 Seriously Shine Free Moisturizer ($ 6.99)

img_2721

Since I’ve been trying their mask and got some other products sent to me (thanks Formula 10.0.6) I fall in love more and more with their products. I’ve emptied my St Ives Collagen Moisturizer (Girls, it took forever to use up that giant jar 😀 ) Spoiler, this one lifts up to its claim as a mattifying oil-free moisturizer. I’ve been using it since last Friday and let me tell you this, I put this moisturizer to the test. The longest record it hold so far is yesterday when I looked shine free for a good 7 hours, no touch up, no blotting! so excited! Aaaand it doesn’t break your bank 🙂

  1. Nip Fab Exfoliate Glycolic Fix Serum ($14.99, as of right now when I posted this it’s on sale for $ 12.74 on Ulta website

    img_2729

I’m aware that now I’m in my late 20s and I have to start the anti aging skin routine.  this serum is how I started to intensify my skincare. I’ve tried some Body Shop serum before but I didn’t really use it much. It was more on and off relationship with my previous serums until I can’t use it anymore cause it’s expired. I have more awareness now that I started to see a fine lines in my under eye area. I decided to give this serum a try as I’ve seen some good reviews about it on YouTube and Instagram post. The price is also very reasonable so why not.

  1. Burt Bees Eye Makeup Remover ($ 5.99)

img_2726

Another impulsive side of me made me clicked the added to my bag button, and Holy Moly how I’m falling in love with this! You don’t need long time to know if you like a makeup remover right? Well at least that’s why I feel and yes, again, I’m in love with this pad. It’s a thin cotton pad that you can just wipe it on your eyes and it’s good to go. It doesn’t burn my eyes, no tingling sensation and  it took out the super pigmented Kat Von D eyeshadow and Better than Sex mascara easily.

  1. Loreal Infallible Blend Artist Foundation Blender ($ 7.99)

img_2720

Just because I can’t justify myself again to spend $20 for Beauty Blender and I’m bored with Real Technique sponge (still love it though, still have RT sponge as backup too) This foundation blender feels more bouncy and a tad bit firmer than Real Technique one. Texture wise it’s more similar to the original Beauty Blender. Overall, it’s nice but I feel that this one absorb more product than the RT one.

  1. Physician Formula Butter Bronzer ($ 14.99)

img_2725

For the sake of my longing for summer, I need to bring this back to my collection. You guys already how good it is, smell so good, and lift up to their name for it’s really buttery soft. This bronzer is really subtle, and the color is lighter Too Faced Chocolate soleil bronzer. It’s more similar to the Milk Chocolate one.

Well, that’s part 1 of my haul this time 🙂 Have any of you done a makeup haul recently? Let me know what you bought and what do you think about it? March will be a no buy month for me so I would love to know what should I get when I’m back on market 😉

PS : Nyx Haul coming up soon 😉

Hope you all had a great weekend and amazing week ahead!

YouTube Saga: Beauty Guru vs Drama Channel

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Let’s breakaway from makeup things for a little bit, shall we?

its-a-mean-old-world-but-its-up-to-us-to-make-it-heaven-here-and-now-quote-1

I believe y’all know or at least once have come across one of these channels on YouTube, whether it’s the beauty channel or the drama channel. Today, I would like to share a little thought of mine here on how I see these channels. I love watching makeup tutorial videos, doesn’t matter who made the video, but if you ask do I support the YouTuber who made the tutorial? Well, it’s not always the case.

Channel suggestion for makeup tutorial: Jaclyn Hill, Kandee Johnson, Melissa Alatorre, Denitslava, Shonagh Scott

Channel suggestion for makeup review: Emilynoel83, Rachhloves, Stephanie Nicole, Jenluvsreviews

Do I watch drama channel? Yes, I do and with proud I’ll say I enjoy it as much as I enjoy watching that beauty channels. Who wouldn’t love a little drama in their life?

Channel suggestion for “drama”: HereForTheTea, Rich Lux, John Kuckian, Karina Kaboom

Here are my views and thought on these two channels :

  1. Beauty Guru as the “celebrities”, drama channel as the TMZ

Just like the celebrity on TV has TMZ, YouTube has these drama channels. Let’s just say that the content creators of the drama channels are the paparazzi. Well, sometimes the viewer or subscriber are the source of the ‘news’ and ain’t nothing wrong with that.

Are all drama channels objective? Maybe not, because this channel belong to a person who runs it well their personal views are heavily influence the style of their reporting, these drama channels may also have their preference on who they support. On the other hand, the ‘’celebrities” on YouTube can also give their exclusive interview to certain drama channel that they want too.

Can drama channel be a reliable source of information? Definitely. It depends on how you can filter and choose what information that you would like to get out of a channel. If you choose wisely, you can even get more information that you didn’t think exist before. I do appreciate the channels who do their research to show all the “receipts” instead of just talking with no proof.

  1. Check and Balance

Nothing against freedom of speech, freedom of expression or whatsoever, but there should always be a check and balance in everything. The government, the celebrity have the news channels, TMZ, infotainment to report on what their doing, so does this YouTube beauty gurus (and other YouTube channels) People can freely express their self yes, but to some extent there should also be a warning that what you express may have gone too far or off the rail, and here is what a drama channel is all about (at least the way I see it)

Another thing to keep in mind is, whether they are Beauty Guru or a Drama Channel content creator they’re all human, they can do wrong, they can say wrong. Can the Beauty Guru call out the drama channel? Well of course they can, it’s their channel, they can say whatever they want. But when there’s action of course there will be reaction whether it is positive or negative. When you put your thought out there it means you’re ready to let people know and when people don’t react the way you want them to be then you have to be ready for that too.

  1. All in all, it’s all just another form of entertainment

The world is already in chaos, lots of hatred and uproar happening around us. Sometimes I wonder why people are so bothered with what’s happening on one channel when they’re watching the drama channel that is talking about the beauty channel they like? People fight on the comment section, saying bad things to each other, talking ill to people that you don’t even know and what’s all that for? For me it’s all an entertainment, seeing other people’s view and thought is something you can learn from. there’s no need to feel bad when you know your beauty guru isn’t always telling you everything and you found that out from the drama channel. That doesn’t mean that the beauty guru is now bad, but at least you learn that there’s always another side of a story.

Just remember, you have the power on your finger not to watch it if you know you won’t like to hear bad things about your favorite beauty guru, why don’t you just not watching that video instead of leaving bad comments and feel offended when people comment back? But then again, that’s where the entertainment at 😀 The comment sections are where all real drama happening.

  1. They actually need each other

Believe it or not, these drama channels are benefit from the beauty gurus channel, and also the other way around. There will be no drama to report should these beauty gurus or big YouTubers don’t do anything, on the other hand, the “reported” channels might get boost on their views because of what the drama channels say. (I never know who Tana Mongeau or Kim Thai is before her name brought up by the drama channels haha..)

The other side of the story, why do you think drama channels expose the big names on their channel? Well, it’s because these big names have millions of subscriber so it’s definitely a bigger chance to get more views too. Yes I do believe there are drama channels who make their content for information, education purpose (HereForTheTea, I love your channel so much)

Looking at these channels in YouTube relationship is really like watching a Love-hate relationship in a tv show, and it’s always gonna be there and that’s what makes it so interesting.

At the end of the day, just be a wise viewer and be real and true to yourself. Make life simple and easy; watch what make you happy, support who you want to support and if you come across a channel that you don’t like just click another one and move on. When you leave comment on someone video just be prepared cause there’s always people who disagree with you, so don’t get butt hurt and defensive. People can be mean, but whether or not if affect you, it’s totally up to you 😉

Peace out!

“People can be mean. Don’t take it personally. It says nothing about you but a lot about them”

Formula 10.0.6 Face Masks

Disclaimer : Some of the items here are sent to me for review purpose. However, all the opinions and thoughts written are all mine and based on my personal experience with the products.

Brand Review

For all of you who are not familiar with Formula 10.0.6, this brand started in 1933 by a chemist and dispensed exclusively by pharmacists. It has a really good history for teenagers back in 80s – 90s. They relaunched the brand with the current sleek modern packaging back in 2009, and completed their collection with the facemasks for every skin need in 2014. So it is not necessarily new brand, but I can say this is an oldie but a goodie.

You can find them at Ulta or their website, and all masks are $6.99 for 3.4 Fl. Oz or 100 ml.

First time I found Formula 10.0.6 was when I made my trip to Ulta around end of last year, in the search of replacing my Origins charcoal mask (Girl, that mask is good but dang it’s so pricey!) The first product I try from them were some face masks and night cream. (Review on them are on my previous post)

thumb_img_2562_1024

In my opinion, Formula 10.0.6 is a great brand that really deserves more love from the Beauty Community. They have such a great choice of product that really under-rated because of all the Big Beauty Gurus or YouTubers are so overwhelmed with the expensive mud mask, magnetic mask, magic mask or whatsoever. What’s important for me about skin care is how effective they are, and how well it suit my skin. Doesn’t matter if it cost a fortune, if it doesn’t suit me I won’t use it. Formula 10.0.6 happens to be the one that works very well for my skin need and doesn’t cost an arm and leg to get it.

So without further due, let’s see what they got

Pore Be Pure Skin Clarifying Mud Mask

Type : Regular cream mask

Base : Strawberry + Yarrowthumb_img_2554_1024

This is my favorite mask so far. With my big pores and  oily skin, this mask really helps me to minimize pore. I used to ignore people saying that I need to put on face masks twice a week to help my skin, but once I started using this mask I want to use it everyday. It smell so refreshingly good (all the masks here do all smell GOOD) and within first 2 weeks I started using it, I noticed that my pores are shrinking, my skin is also less oily. After washing it off, my skin fill firm, tight (in good way) and really soft.

Get Your Glow On Skin Brigthening Peel Maskthumb_img_2557_1024

Type : Peel Mask

Base : Papaya + Citrus

I have quite sensitive skin, and there’s a nice little tingling effect when I put on this mask the first time but once it dries down I can’t feel it anymore. First time I put this on, I notice it helps with pore minimizing too. My pores visibly look smaller and skin look smoother from the first use. For the past week I have been using the peel mask and mud mask almost everyday interchangeably, and I can really see the difference especially when applying foundation. Peel mask also helps to remove your dead skin cell that can make your skin look dull. I feel that my skin feel more plump after using the peel masks, instead of tightened like when i use the mud mask.

Be Berry Clear Illuminating Peel Maskthumb_img_2555_1024

Type : Peel Mask

Base : Raspberry + Acai

Yes you read it correctly, I do use Illuminating Peel Mask for my oily skin. The illuminating here is not to make you skin look more dewy, but it’s leaning to a brightening effect. I notice that it helps to brighten my skin in the area where I have darkened acne scar. Sometimes for the day when you’re lazy to wash your face over and over again, peel mask is really fun to use. Aside from the smell that’s also amazing, this mask also helps to minimize pore. I notice that it also help to reduce the texture on my skin, especially if you exfoliate first before you put on the mask. The difference with the get your glow on, this peel mask takes a little longer to dry. The after effect is not as plump as the Get Your Glow On, but it feels more hydrating.

Be Berry Fresh Balancing Mud Maskthumb_img_2556_1024

Type : Regular cream mask

Base : Bilberry + Neroli

For you my Girl with combo skin, I feel this will be suitable for you. I combine this with the Pore Be Pure mask on my face. I feel that this is more suitable for oily skin, especially when you are having break out.  It is definitely refreshing to use, don’t question me on the smell cause it smell awesome just like the other mask. My skin feels smoother after using this, not as tightening as Pore Be Pure though but it has more calming and soothing effect.

There’s one more mud mask that I haven’t tried, it’s the Deep Down Detox Mud Mask and  one other peel mask, Be Berry Smooth Peel Mask (this one is moisture rich, which I don’t think it suits oily skin type). Let me know if have tried or about to try any of these.

Final Words:

Formula 10.0.6 face masks are really under-rated. They deserve more hype, not only because of the quality of their product, but also how affordable they are. For you who love to do skincare at home, these masks are worth to try and are a really great options. You can choose the mask type that’s right for your skin type and suits your skin need, or combine them. I would suggest to try one of their mud mask and one of the peel mask to start with, so you can get to know which formula that suits your skin, or which one that you prefer. If you want to try all of them, that is totally fine cause they’re so affordable. I can get 5 mask for the price of 1 mask of my previous face mask 🙂

Special note for my oily girls out there, since I myself an oily girl 😉 : Pore Be Pure Mud Mask and Be Berry Clear Peel Mask will be your best friends

Find Your Everyday Palette

Let’s be honest, we always reach for neutral colors for daily eye shadow, don’t we all? Unless you work in the industry where it requires you to put on creative makeup, normally people will reach for the neutral look for everyday use (hence tons of youtube tutorial on smokey look, neutral look, matte look) Maybe occasionally a little pop of color to match your outfit sometimes, but me personally will reach for the palette that I know for sure what look I can create out of it without thinking to combine it with other palettes

So here I am, looking at my collections and realize how many neutral palettes that I have. But, Here are my top 3 palettes for everyday look

1. Too Faced Semi Sweet
Why is this on my top of the list? One, it’s because it has pops of blue in this. Two, it is because it smells like chocolate. Yes, I said it! Who wouldn’t love to have chocolate smell in the morning while putting on makeup? (I love me some nice smell on my products) Not to mention that you can get tons of cool and warm neutral colors in this palette. I also love how the shimmer in this palette looks, not too gliterry but still give a nice glow to brighten the eye look.If I can only choose one from Too Faced big palette, I will definitely choose this one.

Little tips for look that I do many times with this palette:

Mousse+Puddin for crease, Hot Fudge for outer corner, Bon bon for the lid, Butter Pecan for brow bone highlight

2. Tartelette In Bloom
This palette won’t be in a lot of Beauty Guru’s favorite palette if it isn’t good. If you follow me on Instagram, the In Bloom palette is a very recent palette that I got but I’ve been eyeing for it for quite some time. When I finally got it, I can tell that it’s love in the first swipe. The pigmentation is awesome, the texture is all so soft and so easy to blend it, it also smell like chocolate (not as strong as Too Faced, people says it smells like Vanilla but for me it smells like coco powder but very subtle)
You can definitely get various look from this palette. From a very simple no-makeup look to a sultry smokey eye look, that’s not too dark, because it’s more on the deep brown side instead of black.

A nice nude look that I have tried with this palette:

Smarty Pants + Jetsetter for crease, Funny Girl for the lid, Flower Child for brow bone highlight

3. Too Faced Sweet Peach
For you who love warm tones and girly shade for everyday look, this palette is the BOMB. You can pull a lot of look from this refreshing smell palette. If you would like to have a neutral look, you can go with the browns in this palette. Add up that peachy, pink, subtle green for pop of colors, or purple and deep brown smokey look. I always love Too Faced shimmer shadows, and this palette is no exception

Peachy girly look from this palette:

Peaches n Cream for base, Georgia + Candied Peach for crease, Bellini for lid. For more defined look, I sometimes use Tempted or Delectable as eyeliner (only thin line right on the roots of the lash line)

Honorable mention
Lorac Pro Palette (the original)
Why don’t I put this one as the 4th? Lorac Palettes are all so great in pigmentation and their eyeshadow are also very soft. One issue though, since it’s so soft, you will need to be light handed when applying it. Well for me, especially in the morning, I don’t feel like thinking doing my makeup or ended up with bold colors. Yes you can opt for the light color, but the crease color can go bold from 0 to 100 with just one swipe. So if you know for sure how much product you can get from one dip of brush, this palette is really good for a simple look, with a pop of gunmetal, or bronzy color.
